NBA 3-Point Play: De'Aaron Fox, Darius Garland, Alperen Sengun

The Sacramento Kings and Los Angeles Lakers have played three of the most high-scoring games in the NBA this season.

De'Aaron Fox's scoring production has been one of the constants over those three contests. His recent history against the Lakers is one of the best for a player against an opponent recently.

While you wait for the Wednesday NBA nightcap to come on, there are a few other interesting matchups in play, including one involving two of the worst teams in the league.

The Charlotte Hornets-Houston Rockets game has the potential to be fun with so many young players thriving on the court. Sometimes you just want a fun game to bet on and that's what we'll do with that game.

There's one other play that fascinates me. Darius Garland will be in charge of the Cleveland Cavaliers offense and he thrived against Ja Morant last season.

NBA 3-Point Play

De'Aaron Fox Over 24.5 Points (-130)

De'Aaron Fox has killed the Los Angeles Lakers recently.

The Sacramento Kings point guard has three 30-point performances in his last five clashes with the Lakers. He has a 29-point game in that span as well.

Fox scored 32 and 34 points in two of his three regular-season meetings with the Lakers this season. He is averaging 24.6 points per game in January. He has 23 or more points in six of his eight games this month.

Fox has been hovering around the 25-point mark all month, and his recent history against the Lakers is promising for anyone backing him on Wednesday night.

Fox will not be the only player who thrives in the matchup. The final scores of the first three matchups were 120-114, 134-120 and 136-134.

Darius Garland Over 8.5 Assists (+100)

Here's a stat I did not expect to stumble upon.

Darius Garland has 22 assists in his last two head-to-head meetings with Ja Morant. He had 12 and 10 assists versus Morant and the Grizzlies in two matchups last season.

Memphis is third in assists allowed per game in the NBA. Only the Charlotte Hornets and Chicago Bulls have worse totals. We'll get to the Hornets in a minute.

The Grizzlies just gave up 33 assists to the depleted Phoenix Suns on Monday. They allowed an average of 29.6 handouts over the last five contests.

Garland is coming off an 11-assist performance on MLK Day against the New Orleans Pelicans. He had 10 handouts on Thursday against the Portland Trail Blazers.

The Cleveland point guard will have more influence on the offense with Donovan Mitchell out injured. Look for Garland to feed Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen as they try to exploit their matchups with the foul-prone Jaren Jackson Jr. and Steven Adams.

Alperen Sengun Over 16.5 Points (-120)

Alperen Sengun is rapidly becoming one of the breakout stars of the NBA season.

The Houston Rockets center scored in double figures in every January game and he is beaming with confidence after a 33-point outburst against the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday.

Sengun gets a favorable matchup against the Hornets at home. Charlotte has allowed the third-most points and most rebounds to centers. The young center could control the paint against Mason Plumlee and Co.

Sengun's volume is through the roof right now. He had at least 11 field-goal attempts in five of his last seven games.

DraftKings No Sweat Bet

DraftKings is offering a $10 No Sweat Bet for Wednesday's NBA slate that is eligible on single plays and SGPs and SGPx.

I'm opting to use my No Sweat Bet on the Hornets-Rockets game, a clash between two bad teams that could feature a ton of points.

SGP

Alperen Sengun 16+ points

LaMelo Ball 8+ assists

Jalen Green 3+ Threes

PJ Washington 2+ Threes

I already detailed the Sengun leg above.

LaMelo Ball should create a ton of opportunities against a Rockets defense that gives up the third most assists per game to point guards.

Jalen Green hit a trio of triples in four of his last five games. He attempted 31 three-point shots in the last three games. Kevin Porter Jr. is listed as questionable, and if he does not play, Green's volume will stay sky high above his monthly average of 8.9 threes attempted per game.

PJ Washington knocked down two threes in each of his eight January games.
