Did a 14-year old student just find a possible COVID cure?

Whoa! A student from Frisco, Texas just won the 2020 3M Young Scientist Challenge for a discovery that could lead to a COVID-19 cure.

Shout out to 14-year old Anika Chebrolu for finding a winning solution as a race continues to fight coronavirus. Basically in the simplest terms, Anika created a molecule that could cripple part of the coronavirus.

According to CNN:
Anika's winning invention uses in-silico methodology to discover a lead molecule that can selectively bind to the spike protein of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
"The last two days, I saw that there is a lot of media hype about my project since it involves the SARS-CoV-2 virus and it reflects our collective hopes to end this pandemic as I, like everyone else, wish that we go back to our normal lives soon," Anika told CNN.

She walks away with a $25,000 prize. Anika says she hopes her discovery will help scientists get us back to our pre-pandemic lives soon.
