Nick Reynolds and John McKenzie, two life-long friends from Delaware County, who last year revived the Splash Swim Club in Broomall, are the proprietors taking over what was once Jeans Luncheonette, an iconic breakfast place in Delco for nearly 30 years. Delco Steaks will offer Jeans Sweet Tea, a staple of her restaurant. Steve Reynolds, Nick’s brother and most recently director of fund raising for Alex’s Lemonade, will operate the sandwich shop.
“It’s always been a lifelong dream of mine to open up a cheesesteak shop,” said Nick Reynolds. “Growing up and going to places like Pat’s, Geno’s, and Jim’s steaks, I always loved their vibe - the lights, the people, the action. We want to create that same vibe here in Delco and light up West Chester Pike by providing the best tasting food using our meats and dairy from local Pennsylvania farms.”
“Our classic cheesesteak starts with our thinly sliced rib eye cooked to perfection and then seasoned with our special mix,” said Steve Reynolds. “We then add the perfect amount of cooper sharp cheese to give it that juicy bite, and then we load all of this perfection onto a 12” seeded South Philly roll from Carangi. We only use the best ingredients and we hope our customers can really taste the difference.
As part of the grand opening festivities, Delco Steaks is seeking 10 of Delaware County’s best eaters to see who can devour “The Delco,” a two-foot cheesesteak featuring one-and-a-half pounds of meat, on Saturday, July 11 at 4 p.m. Registration is available on Delco Steaks’ Facebook page (@Delco steaks) where the contestants will be revealed on Thursday at 4 p.m.
Delco Steaks will separate the eaters six feet apart at individual tables for the contest. The winner receives a $250 Delco Steaks gift card, a Delco Steaks championship belt, and a picture on the restaurant’s Wall of Fame.
Take-out and delivery are available. Delco Steaks is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.; Friday from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m.; Saturday from 9 a.m. until 10 p.m.; and Sunday from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m.
