The BIGGEST WAWA IN THE UNIVERSE will open tomorrow! The new location is right here in Philly at 6th and Chestnut streets (Old City). Standing at 11,500 square feet in the Public Ledge Building, the newest Wawa is more than 2,000 sq. ft. bigger than the (now second largest) Wawa in D.C.
The Grand opening event kicks off tomorrow at 8am and the public is invited! And then once the doors are opened, the events will all begin at 8:45am outside the store, which is located at 150 S. Independence Mall Way. 9am will be the ribbon cutting.
The grand opening festivities will feature a procession on Chestnut to 6th Street. The procession will end in the store with a "Declaration" to kick off the ceremony and a performance of the National Anthem by Historic Philadelphia's Fife and Drum corps.
Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney will be a the grand opening, alongside Independence Park Superintendent Cynthia MacLeod and Wawa's mascot, Wally Goose.
The first 200 customers through the door at 8 a.m. on Friday will get special giveaways.
