AL CAPONE WROTE MUSIC?? wtf.
Wow. Thanks for the history lesson, Jack White. THis is wild and super fascinating. Jack White purchased a musical manuscript written by AL CAPONE while he was imprisoned in Alcatraz in the 1920s.
He (Al Capone) apparently re-worked a song that was a piece written by Czech composer Antonin Dvorak- and the song features the line, “You thrill and fill this heart of mine / With gladness like a soothing symphony.
White was moved by the idea that a famous gangster was inspired by such “a gentle, beautiful song.” He said, “Human beings are complicated creatures with lots of emotions going on.” You can find that interpretation on the track "Humoresque" featured on Jack White's upcoming album Boarding House Reach due out THIS Friday.
