"He was out of character from note 1 of the show"

I can't stop thinking about Chris Cornell. He was an amazing talent that was ripped away from the world because of the dark sadness and depression that went on inside of him that no one could see from the outside.

During Chris Cornell's final performance last Wednesday night in Detroit, Soundgarden's longtime house engineer Ted Keedick tells TMZ that Cornell seemed "out of character"...

"Chris was out of character from note 1 of the show. I've never heard or seen him that way before, at least if we did not cancel a show… I'd never heard his voice that way before. He was having serious control problems."

Keedick also added that there was also a point during the concert where he phoned someone backstage to see what was wrong with Cornell.

Despite the odd behavior, Keedick says the singer didn't seem depressed, and that he was actually in "good spirits" during their sound check earlier in the night.
