World’s Longest Hockey Game Raises $1.8 Million For Cancer Research

The Cross Cancer Institute is a million-and-a-half dollars richer after the world’s longest hockey game.

Forty people have been playing hockey on an outdoor rink in Alberta 24 hours a day, seven days a week since February 4th to raise money for cancer research.

The event’s organizers called the players “warriors” for playing in temperatures that, at one point, reached minus 40 degrees.

The game hit the 252-hour goal at dawn Monday to break its own Guinness World Record.
