Amber's Pet Project: Bas

Meet Bas! (and try not to be hypnotized by his beautiful green eyes!) Bas is 10 years old, 16 pounds and he's looking for his forever home.

He's a very expressive cat and isn't afraid to let you know when he's ready for attention, but he'll also let you know when he's ready for some quiet time. Dude knows what he wants! But what he really wants is his new home to settle into.

When he came to our friends at Morris Animal Refuge he was a bit anxious & anti-social, but he's come a long way thanks to consistent love and attention, time to adjust, and anxiety medication. His adopter should plan to be patient with him and give him time to get used to his new circumstances, knowing he's been through some stuff, but volunteers at the shelter don't expect him to need to continue on the anxiety meds once he gets settled in to his permanent home and know he'll make a wonderful companion.

Black cats generally have a more difficult time getting adopted too, which is why I'm really glad to share Bas' story this week and hope he comes across the perfect match of a new family.

Here's more info on Bas and how you can adopt them from Morris Animal Refuge
