Sign up now for the '23 Philadelphia Marathon Weekend: 26.2, 13.1 or 8k!

I'm all signed up and ready to go: this November will be my FOURTH time running the half-marathon in the Philadelphia Marathon Weekend. The race is so great that my group of friends participating keeps getting bigger and bigger (last year I had two friends fly in from Detroit to participate, and a NYC friend come down to run too), and I'd like to personally invite YOU to join me in signing up for the race of your choice for 2023: The full 26.2 mile marathon distance, or the half, like me; 13.1 miles. There's also an 8k as part of the weekend which is a fantastic distance if you're newer to running or looking to run your first organized race...there's even a kids fun run!

Commit now and sign up now for the 2023 Philadelphia Marathon Weekend this November 17th-19th, 2023. It's extra special this year because it's the 30th year of the race! The course is beautiful and historic, fast and flat, and takes you past iconic landmarks, beeeeautiful murals and spots made famous by movies. When you sign up now you'll have 6 full months to train, which is plenty of time to get physically and mentally for whichever race you choose to tackle.

And if you think you can't do it, you totally can. Here's my running backstory:

I was NEVER a runner. I started with a 5k fun run in my late 30's because I just wanted to prove to myself I could do it. And I did. And surprisingly enough, I kinda liked it, so decided to try a 10k next. Then a 10 miler...and then fall of 2019 was my first half marathon, part of the Philadelphia Marathon Weekend. Not only did I finish, but here we are getting ready for my 4th go around!

I run for my health (physical and mental) and fitness. I love to run because all I need are my shoes, my headphones and my music. I love to run because it lets me see the city in ways I never would in my car. I love that basically every run I take doubles as a history lesson in Philadelphia.

You'll find me training on Forbidden Drive, Kelly Drive, MLK Drive, The Manayunk Towpath + bopping around my neighborhood. I still get grumpy about hills, but know the more I tackle them, the better I'll get. I'm not by any means a "fast" runner, but am a runner, and it's something I'm really proud of.

Join me in finding joy in running and accomplishing something you never in a zillion years think you'd be able to do - there's such power in it.

Don't put it off, be brave, commit and let's get to training, together! Sign up with a friend or a group of friends who will keep you motivated and accountable and who will be there to celebrate with you at the finish line - there's no feeling that's quite like it.

And you can put more meaning behind your miles when you run - sign up as a runner for research to benefit the AACR: American Association for Cancer Research

Save the Date: Saturday, June 24th Training Run

Meet at the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art on Saturday June 24th at 7:00am for the Philadelphia Marathon Weekend Training Run. Three distances to choose from 3, 6, or 8 miles, and we'll will finish on Kelly Drive at Lloyd Hall with snacks and water from our partners. We will head out as a group and break off according to distance (3, 6, or 8 miles) and pace.

It's free to participate, and no, you don't have to be signed up for the race to join us. I'll be there and putting in a few miles - I love these training runs for the community and support they provide - plus you can talk to and get inspo from running legends like Bart Yasso and Mark Sullivan. Hope to see you there!
