South Street and shows at The TLA just haven't been the same without stalwarts of the cheesesteak world Jim's South St. As you know, there was a devastating fire back in July 2022.
But they've pledged to rebuild, and are on track to be open this year. The goal is to be serving up their world famous steaks again by Labor Day Weekend 2023.
They've also shared plans/blueprints of what the rebuilt space will look like
NBC Philadelphia is reporting that they're currently in the process of doing demo on the interior of the fire-damaged building, and that after fully assessing the space and the structure, the rebuild will officially be underway.
The plan is to keep the outside of the building the same with the black and white art deco design, and the interior rebuild plans to stay true to the design aesthetic we're used to including stainless steel details and hand painted signs. So even though it will be 'new' it will feel familiar when we're able to walk back through the doors this fall.
