The last cassette I bought was Madonna...or the Karate Kid Soundtrack...probably...who really knows, it was about a zillion years ago.
So I was pretty surprised to find out that cassette sales are seeing a resurgence, to the tune of a 35% increase in sales in 2017.
Do people actually own cassette players anymore, or is this just some a weird put it on a shelf and look at it sort of trend? Are sales of pencils similarly increased (you know, to wind the tape back up into the cassette when it gets all garbled up?)
The best selling cassettes of 2017 were the Guardians of the Galaxy soundtracks along with the Stranger Things soundtrack, Eminem’s The Eminem Show, Kanye West’s Yeezus, and Nirvana’s Nevermind.
Did you actually buy any cassettes last year?
