This is a little confusing, but also awesome. Rostam Batmanglij, who officially left/quit/moved on from Vampire Weekend at the beginning of the year, WILL be contributing to the band's new album, their fourth, which is expected to be out next year.
Ezra Koenig (front man) confirmed Rostam's involvement in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
“We’re working on some songs in the exact same way we’ve always worked. We have some stuff that we started a pretty long time ago.”
I got all sorts of excited about this - I adore the collaboration Rostam did with Hamilton Leithauser last year and his other solo/collaborative material - but I'm happy and a bit relieved to find out that all of the ingredients that I've come to know and appreciate about VW will be a part of the new album.
