Peacock TV Picks Up Fresh Prince Reboot for Two Seasons

It's official! The reboot of the iconic sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel Air has a home starting in 2021.

Peacock TV, the new streaming service from NBC Universal announced that they have picked up the re-imagined version of the show, which will still follow Will Smith's journey from West Philadelphia to Bel Air, California. However, the reboot will spin the original comedic elements into a drama, focusing on the real life hardships of Will's journey.

Will Smith congratulated Morgan Cooper, the show's director and co-writer, and executive producer/co-writer Chris Collins for landing a rare, two-season order.  "I've been in this business for 30 years and that does not happen," Smith said.

I'm looking forward to the new avenues and struggles that this show can now explore in a dramatic sense, that would not have been able to fly on a network sitcom. Definitely a show worth checking out.
