And just like that, we've got MORE new music from Bastille - the band just released survivn', right on the heels of giving us their guitar-fueled collaboration "What You Gonna Do?" featuring Graham Coxon (Blur)
This song is SO 2020, but Dan Smith actually started working on it pre-pandemic, the inspiration being a look Bastille's 7 year roller-coaster ride as a band.
Dan Smith said about the song: “There’d been times when I felt like I’d been in a washing machine and on a conveyor belt at the same time, but when people asked me how I was doing, the answer was always the British cliché: ‘Yep, all good, fine'.”
He continued, “At the start of lockdown I felt very self-conscious about having written a song that felt relevant when it wasn’t intended to be, but then I also think 2020 is the year we all stopped pretending everything’s fine.”
Are you picking up on the Lou Reed/Walk On The Wild Side vibes and the lyrical nod at the beginning of the song? "Did I blow my mind on the wild side..."
