Jersey Shore Beaches Will Be Open For Memorial Day Weekend

6ABC reports that the jersey shore will be open in time for Memorial Day, according to Governor Phil Murphy. However, things won’t be back to normal.

The reopening take effect May 22, and beaches and lakefronts can reopen but gatherings, including fireworks and concerts, are NOT allowed. He added that each beach town must establish its “own capacity limitations and ways to enforce social distancing.” Yes, social distancing must still take place on the beach.

Restaurants on the boardwalk can open, but for takeout ONLY. Amusement parks, arcades, picnic areas and playgrounds will remain closed.

Murphy also added that people must wear a mask or face covering while in more crowded areas or while waiting for food on the boardwalk.
