This is… disturbing. A grocery store in Hanover Township said on Wednesday in a Facebook post that a woman *purposely* coughed on food… thousands of dollars worth ($35,000 to be exact.) The food included fresh produce as well some bakery, meat, and grocery items.
Gerrity’s Supermarkets called it a “twisted prank”, adding, “While it is always a shame when food it is wasted, in these times when so many people are worried about the security of our food supply, it is even more disturbing.”
The case has been sent to the District Attorney’s office, and officials also plan to see if the woman tests positive for coronavirus. The U.S. Department of Justice said this week that anyone who intentionally spread the virus could be charged with terrorism for “the purposeful exposure and infection of others.”
No word on why the woman did it.
