It's here, it's here! We knew AWOLNATION was bringing us a new music video for their latest track "Mayday!!! Fiesta Fever," and it has arrived. With a song title like that, you definitely expect a lot of fun, and the band certainly has delivered.
The video shows the band partying in many different locations including in a dollar store, onstage, and with the song's guest vocalist Alex Ebert of Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros.
If the video seems a little familiar, that was on purpose with it paying homage to a few different ones from 90's. "It reminds me of the feel of a lot of the music videos I watched from the '90s, growing up -- the Beastie Boys and some '90s hip-hop videos that were hugely impactful for me," says frontman Aaron Bruno.
The part where he's wheeled around in a shopping cart pays homage to Radiohead's "Fake Plastic Trees."
"It's a reminder that music can be really lighthearted. A lot of artists get carried away in taking themselves really seriously, but the music we're playing, especially this time, is supposed to be really playful and fun, and I think (the video) really captures that."
Can't wait for the release of the band's new album "Angel Miners and the Lightning Riders," and (of course) their performance at our Radio1045 13th Birthday Celebration!
