Hello running pals! Hope you've been enjoying the great (for the most part - and not counting this Sunday rain) running weather! I'm already concerned that we're being spoiled and that Mother Nature will make up for lost time come Philadelphia Marathon weekend! This week, I logged a total of 30 miles, including a great Saturday morning 15 miler (thanks to Lee, Emi, Jessica, Jordan and Greg for helping keep the pace!).
This week's post features an interview (below) with Twenty One Pilots' trumpet player (and drummer!) Josh Dun, who completed the Columbus Half-Marathon in 2017 with a very impressive time of 1 hour, 44 minutes, and 46 seconds. This was Josh's first half-marathon which was inspired when Nike invited him to Milan to watch Eliud Kipchuge's first attempt at breaking a sub-2-hour marathon. Josh is a fitness-buff and continues to run regularly as a complement to his boxing and I'm pretty sure our conversation convinced him to embark on a full 26.2 marathon (or, at least made him think about it a bit more - and the offer stands, I'll run it with him if he likes!). Thanks to Josh for spending the time geeking out on running with me! I hope you all enjoy our running conversation.
In other running news, the All-City-Twenty-Miler (and Ten-Miler) is next Sunday (November 2, 2019 7am), meeting at Lloyd Hall (Boathouse Row - Kelly Drive). If you're running the Philadelphia Half-Marathon or full Marathon, this is a great group training run to help you prepare for the race before you begin your taper. Also, I will be interviewing ultra-marathoner Mark Sullivan who will be serving as course expert while teaming up with Students Run Philly Style, so keep an eye for next Sunday's #RunWithRadio1045Johnny blog which will feature great insight from Mark.
As always, thanks for reading and running! Hit me up on Twitter (@Radio1045Johnny) with feedback or ideas for future posts! (You can also text me weekday mornings (6-10a) when I'm on-the-air at Radio 104.5 - text 91045)
