122 Runners Completed Marathon Linked Together #RunWithRadio1045Johnny

Hello runners! Hopefully, you had a great Saturday long run despite the lingering heat. I had to skip mine, as I traveled to NY to help my Mom celebrate a pretty significant birthday. And with that, had planned to skip this week's episode of #RunWithRadio1045Johnny, but then Mike Jones shared this story with me and felt compelled pass it along to you.

This is truly inspiring. Last Sunday, a group of 122 people broke the Guiness Book World Record for most runners linked to complete a marathon … and not only were they linked by rope, but they linked by being affected by cancer in some way and ran in support of Cancer Research Wales. For those of you have competed a Marathon, you know how hard it is in itself. Now, imagine running while linked to that many people!

The raced was organized by Royal Mail employee, Neal Gardner, who also organized an attempt in 2009 after his mom lost her battle with cancer. That effort secured the title with 30 linked people completing the Marathon.

For this race, they ran in 30 rows of four runners and the team crossed the line in six hours and 47 minutes.

They've already raised over 26,000 Euros through the run and are still raising money, if you would like to support this unique achievement! You can donate HERE

While I'm at it, I'm here to promote your runs. Got a tweet from @PCOSGurl with info on the The PCOS Challenge 5K Run/Walk presented by PCOS Challenge: The National Polycystic Ovary Syndrome Association is the largest event in the country dedicated to raising awareness and funds to help fight polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). The run is in Philly on July 21st and you can get more info HERE
