Currently based in Manayunk, by way of West Chester and Scranton, The Tisburys have been around the Philly music scene for the past few years making rockin' music. Tyler Asay, who also runs the open mic night at Dawson Street Pub these days, is the main singer-songwriter behind the band and longest-standing member, along with John Domenico on guitar. The rest of the band is currently filled out with Doug Keller on bass, Andrew Huston on drums, and a bunch of other talented friends who join in for shows or recording sessions as is needed and required.
Their latest album is called "Wax Nostalgic" and has six songs, including updated recordings of "Between the Lines" and "Water's Edge." Wax Nostalgic was released on April 12th and the guys have been playing a lot of local shows to get the music out to old and new fans. They also have more music in the works that they hope to finish up this summer and get out to the people by early Fall. Something else to look forward to!
Tyler Asay and Doug Keller joined me for the interview and we had a great time talking about the recording, some of their influences, the merits of Bruce Springsteen vs. Phish, what kinds of coffee and gin are our favorites, and what's next for The Tisburys, We also discussed nicknames the band members used to have, and getting all the newer members nicknamed, and how they got the name, The Tisburys to begin with!
