It's Woman Crush Wednesday aka #WCW so today's a great time to feature some amazing women in the local and nearby music scene. And guess what? There's a whole music festival that's FREE and all ages and going down just a short train ride or drive down the road in downtown Wilmington, Delaware all weekend!
This Friday, July 20th and Saturday, July 21st the Ladybug Music Festival returns to downtown Wilmington with a ton of amazing music. Plus, there's a No-Bro Comedy Show happening on Saturday at The Queen on the 4th Floor.
It's all put on by Gable Music Ventures who were inspired by Firefly Music Fest down in Dover. They wanted to offer a fun musical event experience that was all-ages and affordable to all which included local emerging artists.
Each day's events are pretty walkable from one venue to the other so you can see a lot of different acts all in one day pretty easily, and there is nearby free parking.
One of Friday's headlining acts is Nalani & Sarina. They close the Main Stage on Market Street (between 3rd & 4th) around 9pm. Check the video for their song "Young and Inexperienced" below. The identical twin sisters are from Central Jersey (it's a place) and frequently play Philly, NYC and venues in between and whatnot. You can get more info about them at their website.
Lots of other great local artists and bands are also playing Friday - including Rad & Kell (8pm at Fitbody on 207 N. Market), Karmalotta (6:20pm at Artzscape, 205 N. Market), and Briz & the Revival (8pm at Chicky's Pizza Pub, 201 N. Market).
Most of Friday's action is located between 2nd and 4th Streets and Market.

On Saturday the fun at the Ladybug Music Festival starts up again around 3pm and moves up a few blocks - centered between 5th and 6th Streets and Market, with a lot of performances all taking place at The Queen.
One of Saturday's headliners is Grace Vonderkuhn of Wilmington, DE. You can check a video from one of her fall shows below filmed right at 1984 Wilmington (an awesome place to drink a beer, play a videogame and catch a DJ or live music.) Catch her live set starting around 8:45pm at The Queen Main Stage, 500 N. Market St. Lauren Ruth Ward from Los Angeles will close out the night at the Queen.
Other notable Philly-area bands (and not-so-far-away's we like) include Dover's Hoochi Coochi (7pm at the Main Stage at 6th and Market), CVGES (5pm at The Queen street level stage), Paulette Branson & Mixed People (6:15pm at Old Town Hall Museum, 510 N. Market), and Sharon Lia (7:45 at Merchant Bar, 426 N. Market).
