Mother's Day is this Sunday, May 12th, and we'll be celebrating the amazing moms in our lives this weekend. But why stop there? We decided it was a perfect time to take the celebration a step further and spotlight all the talented female artists we love...and so our Ladies First Weekend was born!
The alternative & rock worlds are known as being strongly "male" dominated places, and there's ongoing conversations about the unfair advantages men have overall in the workplace and specifically in music. While we're not setting out to solve the gender imbalance issue with one weekend's worth of music (if only!), we are hoping to be part of the conversation and to help move things in the right direction.
Mostly, we want to really celebrate all these incredible musicians. So this weekend we're going to be playing an extra serving of music with women at the helm. Expect to hear from (in no particular order): Florence + The Machine, Paramore, Lorde, SHAED, Mallrat, CHVRCHES, Misterwives, Hole, The Cranberries, Bishop Briggs, Alanis Morrissette, Lorde, M.I.A. and many many more.
