Halloween Pop-Ups and Themed Bars Around Philly

SO many things happening in Philly now thru Halloween.
Check out some of the Halloween Pop Up Bars and happenings around the city now thru October 31st.

(Here's an even bigger list from PhillyMag.com)

Craftsman Row Saloon | 112 S. 8th Street

The city's first Halloween pop-up bar of the season, Craftsman Row Saloon's "Nightmare Before Christmas," opened last week. The restaurant and bar, also known for going all out with its Christmas pop-up, is decorated floor-to-ceiling in witches' hats, pumpkins, ravens, spiders, twinkling lights. It is all inspired by the 1993 Tim Burton film with the same name.

Uptown Beer Garden | 1500 JFK Blvd.

Fans of "Stranger Things" can step into the world of the Netflix thrilled at Uptown Beer Garden's "Uptown Upside Down." The Halloween pop-up, opened Friday, Sept. 15.

Center City's 18,000-square-foot beer garden is once again transformed into Hawkins, Indiana, with Upside Down-inspired decor and "Stranger Things" character installations, like Max, Vecna, demogorgons and new demobats. There are themed cocktails and a curated soundtrack inspired by the series, and the food menu will include hearty fall foods.

Tinsel | 116 S. 12th Street

Tinsel, known for its Christmas and Eagles themed pop-ups, will open its Nightmare Before Tinsel Halloween bar in late September.

This year's theme is "The Vampires of Sansom Cathedral." The bar will be decorated to look like haunted catacombs, complete with beasts, vampires and lots of fake blood. Along with plenty of photo opportunities, guests can enjoy themed cocktails and seasonal beers served by costumed bartenders.

The bar's owners say it will open Friday, Sept. 29. Nightmare Before Tinsel be open Monday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m., and Saturday through Sunday from 2 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Little Blume of Horrors

Blume Burger has been transformed into a spooky bar, with a focus on ’80s horror movies! Where else can you eat a burger and drink a themed cocktail (including the Craniotomy with gummy worms, the Black Magic with edible glitter, and, of course, a pumpkin-spice-latte martini) while Jason wields a giant knife over your shoulder?

Pay-as-you-go; now open through October 31st, Blume Burger, 1500 Locust Street.

Monster Mash Bloody Mary Challenge

More than a dozen bars throughout Northern Liberties will put their unique spins on the classic bloody, and drinkers have nine days to taste each one and rate them on spice, taste, design, and “Halloweeniness.” Particularly ghoulish drinks include: Cantina Dos Segundos’ Sangre de Nagual (inspired by the Aztec story of sorcerers that drank human blood, but the cocktail is vegan!), Jerry’s Bar’s Vitamin Sea Demon (garnished with a grilled sausage “finger” and aloe “tentacle,” among other things), and North Bowl’s Uptown Ghoul (a dirty vodka martini with bloody-mary skull-shaped ice cubes). See the full list here.

Pay-as-you-go; October 15th-23rd, various locations in Northern Liberties.

Freddy D’s House Party of Horrors

You guys, I’m not so sure about this one, but my job is to tell you it exists and let you make your own decisions. So, if an evening on a boat with Limp Bizkit’s Fred Durst sounds like the Halloween party of your dreams (or nightmares), you’re welcome. Hosted by Sad & Boujee aboard the Moshulu, there will be “haunts and hot-dog-flavored water,” and, of course, four straight hours “directed and hosted” by Durst. There’s no escape. Because of the implication.

$50; October 22nd, 10 p.m.-2 a.m., Moshulu, 401 South Columbus Boulevard.

Haunt Halloween Bar

Upstairs at the Khyber through October 31st, enjoy spooky cocktails, shots and vibes.

Pay-as-you-go; October 13th-31st, 5 p.m.-2 a.m., 56 South 2nd Street.
