A South Philly staple is gonna be a little different going forward.
The Original Tony Luke's Cheesesteaks is making a name change due to family dispute. The sandwich shop on Oregon Ave will now be known as Tony and Nick's Steaks. The same Tony and Nick that recently pleaded guilty to tax evasion charges.
If you want the full tax fraud, family drama there is a good write up at PhillyVoice.com but basically those two weren't paying taxes, and then Tony Jr. who founded the Tony Luke's franchise chain, understandably wanted to distance itself from the OG with that hovering around.
I'm here to just report the name change. Different name, same food.
