Netflix Cancels Two More Shows After Only 1 Season

Lots of TV cancellations over the past couple days, and they just keep coming. Netflix revealed over the weekend that two of its freshman series, "The Society", and "I Am Not Okay With This", have both been cancelled.

What's more - they weren't cancelled for being unpopular - but due to COVID-19 related circumstance. "The Society" was even originally renewed for a season 2, but Netflix has now backtracked on that.

Deadline reports that "uncertainty around production dates and balancing the availableness of a large cast like Society, coupled with budget increases due to COVID" led to the cancellations of both series.

In a statement, Netflix said:

“We’ve made the difficult decision not to move forward with second seasons ofThe Society and I Am Not Okay With This. We’re disappointed to have to make these decisions due to circumstances created by COVID, and we are grateful to these creators, including: Jonathan Entwistle, Christy Hall, Shawn Levy, Dan Levine, Dan Cohen and Josh Barry at 21 Laps Entertainment forI Am Not Okay With This; Chris Keyser, Marc Webb and Pavlina Hatoupis forThe Society; and all the writers, casts and crews who worked tirelessly to make these shows for our members around the world.”
