Philly Indoor Dining Delayed Again, Public Schools Virtual Until November

As Pennsylvania recorded 1,120 new cases of the Coronavirus on Tuesday (the highest in weeks), there were major updates in Philadelphia today as well.

  • City recorded 175 new cases and is considered a "concerning" case for the Health Department due to its higher positivity of cases
  • The Inquirer reports that after a major backlash last week of its previous reopening plan, Philadelphia public schools will now go completely virtual until November. Instruction would happen virtually at least through the first marking period, which ends November 17th. An official announcement is expected later this afternoon.
  • Indoor dining has been delayed again - city health officials now say the original date of August 1 has been pushed back to "no earlier than September 1." City's Health Commissioner Dr. Thomas Farley said the city is in a "second wave" as cases have continue to risen.
