A rep for Depeche Mode has denounced an endorsement from the Alt-Right after one of the movement's leaders, Richard Spencer, proclaimed them 'the official band of the alt-right'; then, in a follow up tweet, stated he was only joking, though a lifelong fan. Nonetheless, Depeche Mode's rep was compelled to make a statement regarding Spencer and the alt-right movement, 'really ridiculous...Depeche Mode has no ties to Richard Spencer or the alt-right and does not support the alt-right movement' (via Billboard)
